The wait for metro in Gurgaon finally ends on Monday

Gurgaon administration plans to run connecting bus services on 6 routes within the city to facilitate metro passengers.

Gurgaon, June 20- The wait for metro in Gurgaon finally ends on Monday and the district administration has planned to run connecting buses on 6 different routes within Gurgaon city to facilitate the Metro passengers. Both AC and non AC buses will ply on these routes.

According to the Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner Rajender Kataria, initially, some routes of the buses have been finalized but the routes and number of buses can be increased depending on the number of passengers once the metro starts on its full length, that is, from HUDA City Center in Gurgaon to Central Secretariat Delhi.

Elaborating about the routes, he said that one route will be from sector 4 and 7 to the Metro Station which will run via sector 9, 9 A, 10, 10 A, Hero Honda Chowk, Rajiv Chowk, IFFCO Chowk, MG Road, Sector 55- 56, Kendriya Vihar , Metro Station and back from Medicity, Rajiv Chowk, New Court, Old Railway Road and sector 4 &7.

Similarly, second route will be from Sector 5 to the Metro Station Gurgaon via Palam Vuihar, Sector 23, 22, Dundahera, Udhyog Vihar, IFFCO Chowk, MG Road, Sector 55, 56, Kendriya Vihar, Metro Station and back from Medicity, Rajiv Chowk, IFFCO Chowk, Udyog Vihar, Sector 22-23, Palam Vihar and sector 5.

He said that the third route is from New Colony to Metro Station via Gurgaon Bus stand, Sukhrali, IFFCO Chowk, M G Road, Sector 55, 56,, Kendriya Vihar, Metro Station and back to Kendriya Vihar, sector 55, 56, MG Road, IFFCO Chowk, Sukhrali, Bus Stand, Mata Sheetla Mandir, Sector 4, 7 and New Colony.

The fourth route is from Gurgaon Bus Stand to Meharana Pratap Chowk via Signature Tower, Metro Station and back to Signature Tower, Rajiv Chowk, IMT Gate number 3.

The Fifth Route is from Gurgaon to IMT via Signature Tower, Metro Station and back through Rajiv Chowk, Islampur, Subhash Chowk, Sector 44, 45, 46, 47 and Metro Station. The sixth route is from IFFCO Chowk Gurgaon to Kendriya Vihar via Siganature Tower, Medicity hospital, sector 29, RD City and back to Golf road, MG Road and IFFCO Chowk.

Mr Kataria said that on route number 1 and 2, non AC buses would ply while on routes number 3, 4, 5,and 6 AC low floor buses would ply.

Gurgaon, June 20- Ending the long wait of commuters for an effective transport system connecting Delhi and its satellite town Gurgaon, the much-awaited Qutub Minar-HUDA City Centre corridor of the Delhi Metro will open to public Monday. Commuters will be able to reach Gurgaon, in neighbouring Haryana, within 27 minutes through the 14.47 km stretch.

The train services will commence simultaneously from Delhi's Qutub Minar and HUDA City Centre in Gurgaon without a formal inaugural function at 8 a.m. Monday, 21st June. Initially, five trains would ply on the stretch 6 a.m.-11 p.m. with a frequency of approximately 12 minutes. A standby train is kept for emergency use.

The minimum fare for the route is Rs 8 and the maximum is Rs 30.

'Launch of the Metro services is likely to help many commuters. The commuters of the Millennium City have been waiting for it for months. By 2011 we expect a footfall of 1.6 lakh every day,' the official said.

The corridor is fully elevated and consists of 10 Metro stations -- Qutub Minar, Chhattarpur, Sultanpur, Ghitorni, Arjangarh, Guru Dronacharya, Sikanderpur, M.G. Road, IFFCO Chowk and HUDA City Centre. Nine stations would be operational from Monday.

'The Metro will bypass the Chhattarpur station as the work is incomplete there. The station is likely to be operational by August,' the official said.

Out of the 10 stations, only six have parking facility. Parking contracts for Ghitorni, Arjangarh and Sikanderpur have not been finalised and the facility is under construction at the Chhattarpur station.

To facilitate passengers, the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) is planning to run connecting bus services from Qutub Minar Metro station to Central Secretariat Metro station 6।15 a।m।-11।45 p.m.
