Chief Minister of Orissa Announces package for handloom weavers
special package announced by the Chief Minister of Orissa, Mr Navin Patnaik, the handloom weavers in the state will be granted an assistance of Rs 189.1 million, to boost their growth and development. State Industry Minister, stated that the package will concentrate on enhancing the skills of the handloom ,handloom weavers, establishment of Common Facility Centre (CFC), extending facilities such as bank loan, marketing assistance and market specific designs, while addressing the issues concerning promotion of handicrafts within the country and outside and also the ones relating to the identity cards. The Minister also added that, the CM had announced a five year bailout package worth Rs. 400 million in order to encourage extensive self-employment in the handicraft sector, which was made effective from 2007-08.In accordance with the provisions of the Industrial Policy Resolution (IPR), 2007, Value-added Tax (VAT) on khadi, village and cottage handicrafts and handloom industries has been abolished by the government. Also these industries have been bestowed with a 10 percent price preference in event of their partaking in government tender. They are required to pay 25 percent of the security deposit but do not need to pay the Earnest Money Deposit (EMD).http://www.hastshilpisamachar.com
