Gurgaon, The district Administration has finalized the dates for organizing Gurgaon Shopping Festival. Now, it will be organized from 27th September which happens to be World Tourism Day and will last upto Haryana Day, that is, 1st November.
This was disclosed by the Deputy Commissioner Rajender Kataria, who has been appointed as nodal officer for tourism activities in NCR area of Haryana. A meeting was convened under Chairmanship of Mr Kataria in his office which was attended by the representatives of tourism department, Haryana tourism mart and REDCO. Mr Kataria said that the Gurgaon Shopping Festival will be organized jointly by Haryana Tourism, Haryana Tourism Mart and REDCO. The aim is to attract the foreign players and tourists to Gurgaon during the Commonwealth Games which are going to be organized in Delhi from 3rd to 14th October. The shopping festival has been planned in such a way that the duration of games fall at the time of festival.
The administration has taken other considerations into account for deciding the time of shopping festival. This year, festival of Deepawali also falls on 5th of November and it is a famous festival for Hindus. People buy new items for themselves and also for giving gifts to relatives and friends as it is considered auspicious to by new things at the time of deepawali. So, the Gurgaon Shopping Festival will be a boon for the residents of Gurgaon, Delhi and nearby places. According to Deputy Commissioner all the shopping malls will be beautifully decorated during the time of shopping festival. Not only this, the shop owners and business community has assured to give shopping packages, relaxations and other discounts on purchases at that time. He said that the developers, realtors and builders will also be part of the Gurgaon Shopping Festival so that the people interested in buying immovable property in Gurgaon can contact them.
Mr Kataria said that any person in individual capacity or a firm or society who want to promote this shopping festival by way of their contribution in its management, by organizing exhibition and marketing are welcome. He said that daily some carnival like vintage car rally, cultural shows would also be organized at various places during the festival. He said that the Gurgaon Shopping Festival will be of such a big magnitude that any person entering Gurgaon would automatically come to know about the festival. The meeting was attended by district revenue officer PD Sharma, SDM Gurgaon North Satender Duhan, City magistrate Anju Choudhary and representative of Haryana Tourism Mart and REDCO.
